Yesterday Swedish construction company Skanska, which already has eight operations in Slovakia, announced its takeover of Slovakian company SkyBau, which produces reinforced concrete constructions.
The figure for the acquisition was not revealed but Skanska is confident that the takeover will boost its market position in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. SkyBau will gradually be amalgamated into the Skanska structure over a period of three years.
SkyBau has been operating on the Czech and Slovak markets for 18 years and generates sales of around EUR 27 million a year, employing 350 full-time employees. Skanska sees the main benefit in the system of on-site casting applied by SkyBau, which Skanska has not used to date.
