Skanska SK wins tender for southern road from Kosice

In the coming days construction company Skanska SK will begin work on the R4 motorway, which covers a 14-kilometre strip of road connecting Kosice to the village of Milhost near the Hungarian border.

The work will cost around EUR 77.69 million and should be complete by the end of 2012, announced Transport Minister Jan Figel. The contract was signed today, 5 august, between Skanska SK and the National Highway Company (NDS).

Minister Figel feels that the R4 tender was won fair and square and went to the lowest price, which he said “means we’ve started utilising public finances more effectively”.

Figel also mentioned planned talks with Hungarian counterparts on more intense co-operation in developing their road infrastructure as well.
