Head of the new Slovak broadcasting corporation RTVS, Miroslava Zemkova, has announced that around 400 jobs are to be axed over the next year.
Zemkova would not divulge any further information about what kind of posts are to be cut, but it seems it will mostly be administrative staff. The job cuts will affect former Slovak Television (STV) and Slovak Radio (SRo), which were merged to create the new broadcaster RTVS.
Zemkova did reveal, though, that most of the job cuts would be made in the television broadcasting part of the company, and that the cost-cutting measures should not impact the salaries of the remaining workers.
