The Slovak elections this Saturday, 10 March, are being promoted also south of the border in Hungary, as the public broadcaster has aired spots encouraging people of Hungarian ethnicity to get out and vote “in order to survive”.
Public TV station M1 has been broadcasting a political advertisement aimed at ethnic Hungarians in Slovakia, with the spot being given prime time after the evening news, reports daily SME today. The spots belong to the Rakozci Association, which has been around since 1989 promoting the interests of ethnic Hungarians in the Carpathian basin.
“The fate of people, and their survival, is in our hands. Use your civic right, take part in the elections and get as many votes as possible for Hungarian community candidates”, says the spot.
