The draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League 2014/2015 caught the attention of football fans and experts also in Slovakia on June 23, 2014
ŠK Slovan Bratislava, the Slovak champion 2013/2014, was in the list of 2014/15 UEFA Champions League participants. It was a seeded team in the second qualifying round draw in Group 2. The Slovak representative was paired with The New Saints FC, the Welsh Premier League Champion 2013/14. The matches are scheduled on July 15/16 and July 22/23, 2014.

Even the first and second qualifying round draws for the next season of UEFA Europa League took place in Nyon on June 23, 2014.
In the first qualifying round FC Spartak Trnava faces Hibernians FC, a Maltese club founded in 1922. Matches are scheduled on July 3 and July 10. If successful, our club will face FC Zestafoni, a Georgian club in the next round.
There were two Slovak clubs in the second qualifying round; MFK Košice and FK AS Trenčín. The club from East Slovakia faces the Czech club FC Slovan Liberec. The coach of the Czech team is Samuel Slovák, a former coach of ŠK Slovan Bratislava. MFK Košice is led by the Czech coach Radoslav Látal. FK AS Trenčín faces FK Vojvodina, a Serbian club from Novi Sad. The matches are held on July 17 and July 24, 2014.
