From today Slovaks can apply to be included in the Diversity Visa Programme, which is the granting of residence visas to some 55,000 randomly selected people wishing to emigrate to the USA each year.
Applications to the DV-2013 program are to be submitted electronically starting today until Wednesday 5 November, and applications and full instructions can be gained here. There is no charge for applying, but applicants must satisfy all requirements laid down by US law.
Who will get the chance to emigrate to the US is basically a lottery, as the winning applicants are selected by computer at random. The results will be available from 1 May 2012 by checking the Entry Status Check on-line at www.dvlottery.state.gov using your personal reference number.
