The main aim of the consulate will be to promote economic and trade relations between the two countries, including the areas of tourism, culture, education, science and sport. It will, of course, also support Swedish nationals here and offer an information service to Slovaks interested in Sweden or in establishing business ties with Swedish companies.

Consul general Kestler feels that in co-operation with the Swedish Embassy in Vienna the new consulate will boost relations and ties between Sweden and Slovakia. A special ceremony will take place to celebrate the opening of the consulate with around one hundred invited guests.
