The Telecommunications Office in Slovakia has made a call for tenders to select the new service provider for the wireless system MMDS in Bratislava and the surrounding area, reports daily SME.
The winner of the tender will be able to broadcast TV programmes in the 2.2 GHz range for a period of ten years. The license of the UPC Broadband Slovakia company, which has been providing the service, will expire on 30 June 2011. UPC said the company is still interested in the activity and will take part in the tender.
Tenders may be submitted by 4 April 2011, with the selection criteria comprising the service starting date and the amount offered, with the minimum offer being EUR 695. The licence of Satro, which broadcasts through the MMDS system in Bratislava in the 2.5 GHz range, will expire in December 2011, so this range will thereafter be used for other purposes.
