Top hotels in Slovakia like the Kempinski and Crown Plaza have witnessed a drop in clientelle to cheaper competitors and so have been trying to hit back by offering various special offers and discounts, reports daily SME.
For example, Kempinski hotels in the High Tatra mountains and in Bratislava are offering four nights for the price of three, together with breakfast and wellness services. This has helped boost sales by around 15 percent on the year, said hotel chain spokeswoman, Alena Spisiakova.
Vice-president of the Bratislava Hotel Association pointed out that top managers are no longer the typical hotel guest, having been replaced more by smaller business people. He also noted that Bratislava would never be “a city of big business”.
