Anti-trust office wants more open gas market

The Anti-Trust Office has hit out at how the gas market is being regulated in Slovakia, saying that development of the market it is being held back by the system of regulation, also because it stops new players from developing certain market segments.

In its report the office criticised how regulation offers no incentive for new market participants, which in the end hurts the end consumers. The main problem lies in the regulation of the household segment and the segment of heat generation for households.

Although the Anti-Trust Office admits that regulation is necessary in some cases, it is against the scope and conditions of regulation as this is preventing development of regulated segments. It is therefore calling for a revision of the system.
