The main idea behind the event, which sees hundreds of mums, children, fathers and prams make their way along a symbolic 1 mile route in praise of mums. Now in its 9th year, the event is organised by the Union of Mother Centres, with special emphasis this year on Connecting generations as it is European Year of Acting Ageing, and so grandparents are invited to come along as well.

Mother’s Day is a relatively new celebration Slovakia, being celebrated only after the 1989 Velvet Revolution, as the communist regime put more emphasis on International Women’s Day. So don’t forget to make this Sunday a special day for all the special mums.
