Case of abused Roma boys goes to court

The District Court of Kosice II has finally set the date for the court case concerning police brutality against a group of six Roma boys back in March 2009.

The incident received a lot of media attention as a video recording shows how the police forced the young boys to strip naked and beat each other, among other things, while the nine accused police officers ridiculed them. The boys had been arrested for robbing an old lady.

The main trial will take place on 5 and 26 November, with the officers being charged with abuse of public authority and blackmail. Not all of the nine officers have been discharged from the police force since the incident.
