CEZ set to start selling gas and electricity to households

Czech press agency CTK reports how the largest energy company in Central Europe, CEZ, wants to move into the market of gas and electricity supplies to households in Slovakia from the beginning of next year. CEZ already supplies electricity to companies in Slovakia, and will disclose more about its expansion plans in January.

“We are entering the market of gas and electricity also for households in Slovakia from the beginning of next year. We are now in the phase of preparing the whole project,” said Eva Hlavackova, a marketing communication specialist of the CEZ group.

CEZ has gradually been pushing its way onto the Slovak electricity market, which is dominated by the three main regional distribution companies. Last year it started supplying also to smaller businesses in Slovakia, instead of just large industrial customers till then. The gas and electricity market in Slovakia looks set to open up much more now with the new government easing up on regulation.
