The ongoing conflict between disgruntled trade unions, employers and the government over the prepared revision of the Labour Code saw the trade unions launch another series of protests yesterday.

These kicked off with a protest rally organised by the KOVO trade union outside the plant of Japanese company Yazaki in Michalovce, with the participation of around 250 people in total, but just 100 or so employees of the Yazaki plant and the nearby Bosch-Siemens plant.

Head of the KOVO trade union, Emil Machyna, puts the weak turnout down to intimation from the employers, while expressing his belief that the rally would have been bigger.

The next in the series of protests will be announced by trade union representatives today.
